Roger Dean Rizek, 75, of Belleville KS passed away February 26, 2026 at Stormont Vail Hospital. He was the second child of Alphonse (A.L.) and Violet (Shema) Rizek born July 7, 1950 in Belleville KS
He grew up in Belleville, graduating from Belleville High School in 1968 and went onto Beloit Vo-Tech and graduated in Electronics and Electricity. He was then in active duty in the US Army Engineers as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 1 year and then went on to serve in the Kansas National Guard, Company D, 169th Support Battalion for 5 years and was then honorably discharged.
Roger worked with his dad, A.L., at Rizek Plumbing and Heating from about the time he could walk. He started his own excavating business in high school. He also enjoyed farming, raising a small herd of cattle. He continued to operate Rizek Plumbing and Heating all his life, still working at the time of his death.
Roger was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Council 2609 Belleville Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight.
Roger was married to Sharon Grennan on February 14th, 1971. From this union 3 children were born, Kristina (Kristy), Kevin, and Philip Rizek. Roger then married Kathleen (Kathy) Mansfield on January 2, 1987,
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.L. and Violet Rizek, and wife Kathy Rizek in 2021.
Roger is survived by his children Kristy Rizek (Andy Phillips) of Topeka KS, Kevin Rizek of Belleville KS, and Philip Rizek of Topeka KS, grandchildren Kaylin and Caley Phillips of Topeka KS sister Kayleen Herrema of Goodyear AZ; other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 5, 2026 at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer, celebrant. Family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Cremation was selected and friends may sign the register book from 1 PM until 6 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS. The family will not be present.
Memorials are suggested to Church People Concerned (Golden Bell) and may be left at the funeral home or Church on the service date.
