Larry Dean Stephens, 87

Larry Dean Stephens, the son of George Lawrence Stephens and Mollie Leona (Kroulik) Stephens, was born August 26, 1938, in rural Munden, Kansas, and passed away May 6, 2026, at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 10 days.

Larry grew up in rural Munden. He attended country schools and later graduated from Narka High School, Narka, Kansas. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958.

After his military service, he returned home to Munden, where he farmed with his father. Eventually, he purchased his own farm in rural Narka. On December 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Klaumann of Belleville, KS, and to this union, Roger Alan and Brian Mark were born. The couple made their home at the farm in rural Narka, and Larry felt very fortunate to be able to live on the farm until his death.

Larry was a member of the Narka Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an Elder for many years. He was a former member of the Ida Cemetery Board and served on the Albion Township Board. Larry liked visiting with friends, listening to country and bluegrass music, and playing guitar. He was a member of the local band, The Narka Reruns, with his best friends, Walter Molzahn, and Melvin Edwards. The trio had great fun playing music in the area for many years. Larry loved to laugh and often told jokes and funny stories.

Larry was a career farmer. He grew many crops and raised hogs and cattle over the years. Most of the time, you could find Larry in his shop, working on equipment or tinkering with other projects. He was a skilled electrician and liked to stay busy working with his hands. He loved tractors, especially Farmall tractors. Larry and his sons worked together on the farm for the last 15 years, and they enjoyed working on tractors and projects together. Larry was very proud of his children and grandchildren, often bragging about them and their accomplishments to friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mollie Stephens, brother-in-law Willis Gene Klaumann, and his father and mother-in-law, William and Della Klaumann, and good friend and neighbor, Bob Molzahn.
