Marilou Becker, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Manke) McCollum, was born on January 12, 1957 in Kennewick, Washington. She passed away on August 11, 2026 at the Jewell County Hospital at Mankato, Kansas at the age of 69 years, 6 months, 30 days.
Marilou was a 1975 Kennewick High School graduate, and furthered her education at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington and Central Washington University. She married Neil "Sam" Becker on August 15, 1981 in Kennewick, Washington. They left the state of Washington on Thanksgiving Day in 1981 and moved to Mankato, Kansas, where they started their family. She retired on August 1, 2024 after working 37 years at Jewell County Courthouse as the Deputy in the appraiser's office.
Marilou's happiest memories included traveling to Washington to visit her family and friends, and spending time enjoying the ocean. In the summers you could find her at Lovewell Lake camping and enjoying the lake view. She always thought it was a treat when her grandkids could come by, and she loved to go and watch Caitlyn, Maverick and Hudson play sports. She never missed an activity, even if it was out of town. She loved taking motorcycle rides with Sam whenever the opportunity arose. Riding with the gang to Sturgis and going through the Black Hills or Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota was among some of her favorite memories.
She was a devoted member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato, where she was baptized and an active member of the Lutheran Women's group. She prepared and served many meals alongside the ladies of the church. Marilou loved to bowl in her early years, receiving numerous trophies. She loved cooking and went out of her way to fix everyone their favorite dishes. When it came time for Harvest meals in the field, no one ever went hungry. She leaves behind many cherished memories and will be missed by so many.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Mary; brother Bill McCollum, father-in-law Wilbur Becker and brother-in-law John Becker.
Survivors include her husband Neil "Sam" Becker; son Nicklous (Cindy) Becker and Matthew (Houston) Becker all of Mankato; 4 grandchildren Maverick Becker, Hudson Becker, Augustus (Carrie) May, Caitlyn (Sebastian) Cehura; great grandchildren Wyatt and Morgan May; sister Patricia Becker of Richland, Washington; brother Robert (Sandy) McCollum of Carson, Washington; mother-in-law Betty Becker of Mankato; sisters-in-law Shirley (Jack Alcorn) Becker of Mankato; Lori Carter of Olathe; and Terri McCollum of Pasco, Washington; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
