Daniel Duane Jensen, 65, of Courtland, Kansas died on September 11, 2026. He was
born on April 2, 1961 in Wyandotte County, Kansas to Carl Jensen and JoVena Sidders.
He was raised in Concordia, Kansas by JoVena and Jackie Anderson. He graduated
from Concordia High School in 1981.
Dan married Sonda Moore and their 11-year marriage brought four children; Joy, Kristy,
JoAnna, and Jackie.
He owned a motorcycle shop in Concordia for a period of time, and co-owned Jackie’s
Gas Station in Formoso. But he spent the majority of his working life as Dan Dan the
City Man of Courtland.
Dan was a member of the Masons Lodge of Belleville #129. He was a volunteer fire
fighter for Courtland and served as assistant chief for a time. He loved all things
Courtland, including coffee at Jensen’s and helping his neighbors with various needs.
He loved his cats Lyra, Samantha, and mittens.
He was preceded by his mother JoVena Anderson, and a sister Dinina Uglow.
Dan is survived by his children Joy Pruitt (Matthew) of Courtland, KS, Kristy Jensen of
Wichita, KS, JoAnna Bowers (Daniel) of Belleville, KS, and Jackie Jensen of Smith
Center; grandchildren Annabelle Hemenway, Lilian Pruitt, Abigail Pruitt, Johnathan
Pruitt, Skylar Mendenhall, Lennon Ninemire, Owen Weatherhead, Caleb Weatherhead,
Ryan Weatherhead, Nora Bowers, and Jace Bowers; great grandchildren Marlie
Christy-Clough and Colton Christy-Clough; father Jackie Anderson; and sister Darceil
Birkle-Williams.
A graveside service for Daniel Jensen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
September 26, 2026, at Balch Cemetery, located north of Formoso, Kansas. The
service will be conducted by Belleville 129 AF&AM. In honor of Daniel's life, the family
invites you to dress casual and come as you are comfortable. Following the service, a
luncheon will be held at the Courtland City Hall to share memories and gather in
community.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Courtland Community
