Darrell "Craig" Emmot, 67

Darrell “Craig” Emmot passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2026, just moments after taking his “last ride” on his Harley-Davidson, at the age of 67 years, 9 months, and 30 days.

Craig was born October 4, 1958, at Mitchell County Hospital, the son of Darrell David and Carol Jean Studer Emmot. He attended school in Beloit and graduated from Beloit Jr.-Sr. High School with the Class of 1976.

Just this past Memorial Day weekend, Craig celebrated his 50th class reunion, enjoying the parade and dinner and reminiscing with classmates about old times and memories. During his school years, he participated in football and track.

While in high school, Craig worked at his dad’s Skelly station on the corner of 8th and Mill. He later worked for Petty-Ray Geosource, a job that took him to several different states. Throughout the years, he also worked for Ballou Road Construction, Hall Brothers, Johnson Sand Company, and Beloit Ready Mix.

In his younger years he was famous for driving his Camaros fast and burning rubber which earned him the nickname “Gearhead” among his friends!

Craig was the kind of person who could take anything apart and figure out how to fix it. From small appliances to vehicles, there wasn’t much he was afraid to tackle. He was also a talented craftsman who enjoyed creating unique pieces by repurposing vintage items. His other interests included wood whittling, photography, calligraphy, watching the History Channel, and, most of all, riding his Harley-Davidson.

Craig had a sharp, witty sense of humor and an incredible memory for old family stories. Those who knew him often used one simple word to describe him—“cool.” Beneath that cool exterior was a kindhearted man who would do just about anything for anybody.

His kind heart extended to animals as well. On one occasion, Craig spotted a tiny kitten in the middle of the highway. After stopping and looking around to make sure there weren’t other orphan kittens nearby, he took the little one home and bottle-fed it himself.

Although Craig did not have grandchildren of his own, he wholeheartedly embraced Kim’s grandchildren. To them, he was “Uncle Craig,” and he loved them as his own. He looked forward to spending time with them at the farm, making trips to the pasture and creek to look for deer sheds and explore. One of his favorite traditions was joining them for Kim’s annual “Grandma Camp,” something he had been part of for the past nine years. Craig was also the one behind their favorite craft—the famous hydro dipping projects.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell David and Carol Jean Emmot.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his sisters, Kim (Mark) Fuller of Beloit and Chris (Jeff) Anderson of Bishop, California; his nieces and nephews, Matthew (Megan) Fuller of Olathe, Kansas, David (Jesse) Fuller, and Sarah (Danny) Elmore, both of Derby, Kansas; and his very special great-nieces and great-nephews, Cooper Elmore, Kaden Fuller, Carson Fuller, Addie Fuller, Ava Fuller, and Ella Fuller. He is also remembered by many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the VFW Hall in Beloit, with private family inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Funeral Expense Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Roberts Family Funeral Home, 910 N. Campbell Ave., Beloit, Ks 67420
