Student of the Week

 

Teachers, staff and administration at St. John’s Jr.-Sr. High School and Beloit Jr.-Sr. High School in Beloit rotate weekly in the selection of one student they feel deserves the honor of Student of the Week. A Student of the Week is chosen based on overall positive attitude, work ethic, behavior, the ability to work well with others, and participation in the civic and church arenas. Academic endeavors play a secondary role in the selection because it is recognized that even though some students may struggle with content, deserving students who work hard in a classroom, model good citizenship, and display appropriate behaviors are the most deserving of the title Student of the Week. After a student is chosen, a short biography of the student is aired throughout the week on KVSV AM 1190 Stereo 102.9 the mix, and KVSV FM 105.5. Area merchants and each school provide recognition gifts for the chosen student. Participating merchants for the 2023-24 school year are S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South and Kettle Coffee. Watch our website and listen on KVSV during the school year as we honor our area students.

Student of the Week: Kim Schoen

(week of April 22nd) Congratulations to this week's KVSV Student of the Week,

Kim Schoen, a student at Beloit High. Kim is a Senior at Beloit High and is the daughter of Barry & Sylvia Schoen and Melissa Wacker. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Kim for being an outstanding student! Kim has worked tirelessly on the yearbook staff in a variety of ways since mid-summer. She has done an excellent job with the software and getting the theme carried throughout the yearbook. Kim is a great student in all of her classes and comes to school each day ready to work hard and learn! Kim is involved in Tennis, Track, Yearbook Editor, SAFE, History Club, Science Club, B-Club, and Future Med Club. She has previously participated in volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading. Student of the Week: Griffin Johnson

Griffin Johnson, a student at Beloit High. Griffin is an 8^th grader at Beloit High and is the son of Jason Johnson & Leah Christian. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Griffin for being an outstanding student! Griffin is an incredibly hard worker. He is polite, courteous, helps out when asked and is a great leader in his class. He is always friendly and helpful and sets a positive tone for those around him. Griffin is involved in football, basketball, track, and Kid Wind. Student of the Week: Elizabeth Knappert

(week of April 1st) Congratulations to this week's KVSV Student of the Week,

Elizabeth Knappert, a student at St. John’s. Elizabeth is a Junior at St. John’s and is the daughter of David Knappert and Anne Knappert. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Elizabeth for being an outstanding student! Elizabeth is a hard working Junior at St John’s who is creative and kind. Elizabeth is a member of the St John’s Cross Country team, a leader for Challenge girls group, a member of Forerunners, and sings within the St John’s Choir. She also sings in the parish choir and cantors at Mass. Elizabeth volunteers her time in support of community and parish activities, and is a great big sister to her siblings. Student of the Week: Brooks Jones

Brooks Jones, a student at Beloit High. Brooks is a Junior at Beloit High and is the son of Kirsten and Nate Jones. He is always willing to help out adults and students. Brooks will do many great things in his life. He is involved in football, track, National Honor Society, Student Council, History Club, SAFE, FFA, B-Club, school musical, and Science Club. Lijah Gerstner, a student at Beloit High. Lijah is an 8^th grader at Beloit High and is the son of Wade & Mandy Gerstner. Student of the Week: Cecilia Horinek

Cecilia Horinek, a student at St. John’s. Cecilia is a Freshman at St. John’s and is the daughter of Clint and Sarah Horinek. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Cecilia for being an outstanding student! Cecilia is a joyful and loving student with a big heart who demonstrates great responsibility in her duties. Cecilia cheers for the Blujay athletic teams, is a good friend who makes herself present to other students. She is an active member of the Challenge girls group, and she sings in the school choir at Mass. Cecilia helps at home doing laundry and taking care of her dog Louie. Student of the Week: Erin Schmitt

Erin Schmitt, a student at Beloit High. Erin is a Senior at Beloit High and is the daughter of Dale and Lynna Schmitt. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Erin for being an outstanding student! Erin is a delight to have in class. She truly wants to learn. Erin works hard each and every day and is very helpful to her peers and classmates! Erin is involved in Scholars Bowl, National Honor Society, SAFE, International Club, Science Club, B-Club, and runs the media board and sound system for all basketball games. She can be seen working at her part-time job at S&S Drug. Student of the Week: Gunner Gray

Gunner Gray, a student at Beloit High. Gunner is an 8^th grader at Beloit High and is the son of Pat and Lindsay Gray. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Gunner for being an outstanding student! Gunner is a great student who works hard and is a natural leader. He is positive and friendly, respects his classmates and peers, and cares about the school. Gunner is involved in football, basketball, track and field, robotics, Junior High Leadership Team, and takes part in Junior High Money Management. Student of the Week: Xavier Roderick

Xavier Roderick, a student at St. John’s. Xavier is a Freshman at St. John’s and is the son of Jeremy & Jackie Roderick. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Xavier for being an outstanding student! Xavier is a hard working and polite student who goes out of his way to help others. He is a member of the Middle School basketball team and plans to participate in track and field. Xavier works to be a good brother and son. He goes out of his way to help teachers at school. Student of the Week: Tamma Lawson

(week of January 29th) Congratulations to this week's KVSV Student of the Week,

Tamma Lawson, a student at Beloit High. Tamma is a Senior at Beloit High and is the daughter of Tom Lawson. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Tamma for being an outstanding student! Tamma has demonstrated a strong work ethic all school year, and her attitude has been extremely positive. She is always willing and ready to help in any civic duty in JAG-K, but she has also stepped out of her comfort zone to tackle projects outside of JAG. Tamma has taken on leadership roles this year and has done an outstanding job! Tamma is involved in Band, JAG-K, and Forensics at Beloit High. She can be seen in her spare time working at Hilltop Lodge as a dietary aid. Student of the Week: Brylee Herrman

Brylee Herrman, a student at Beloit High. Brylee is an 8^th grader at Beloit High and is the daughter of Sarah Stevenson and Michael Herrman. KVSV Radio, S&S Drug/S&S Home Health/S&S South, and Kettle Coffee are proud to honor Brylee for being an outstanding student! Brylee always comes to class with a positive attitude and ready to learn. She is very respectful and kind to others. She works hard and is a joy to teach! Brylee gets along well with others and is a humble leader. She adds to her positive school culture with her attitude, smile, and conduct. Brylee is involved in volleyball, track, Junior High Leadership Team, and participated in the Spelling Bee.
