The Beloit Arts Center will be hosting an introduction to folk dancing this Thursday evening, August 8th, from 7-8 PM at the Performance Studio on 114 S Mill St in downtown Beloit. Also known as Contra Dancing, similar to square dancing without all the fancy steps. Kyle Peterson will be the caller for this fun, free social activity open to all ages.

Bingo in the evening a the Beloit Senior Center, 220 N Hersey in Beloit, Thursday August 8th, 6-8 PM with Early Bird games at 6:15. Seating is limited, RSVP Debbie at 738-5802, or email beloitseniorcenter@nckcn.com. Cost is free, refreshments will be provided.

Beloit Stadium is closed. The crew has arrived to paint the track lanes. The facility will open again Friday August 9th with good weather. Please stay off the track until the reopening announcement.

Huner After-Harvest Festival sponsoredby Hunter Lions Club going on Saturday August 10th in Hunter, KS. 6pm sign-up for Kid's Parade and food stand opens. 6:15 Kid's Parade. 6:30 Bouncy House Opens. 7 Karaoke on Tennis Court. At dark, fireworks by Hunter Volunteer Fire Dept. Quilt Raffles Sales by Hunter Lions Club and Lutheran Ladies.

Smith Center UMC is hosting a free clinic of Mental Health First Aid Training. The facilitators are from High Plains Mental Health in Hays, KS. This event is Saturday August 10th from 9AM - 5PM, no cost and lunch is provided. American Indian Artifact Identification Day going on at the Pawnee Indian Museum State Historic Site 10:30am - 3pm Saturday August 10th. Archeologists will be available to examine American Indian artificats. The public is welcome to bring a single artifact or a collection. Experts will date and identify the origins of artifacts. No appraisals will be made.
