Due to the previous severe winter weather and the seasonal flu – the number of American Red Cross blood drives – were cancelled. The Red Cross now considers the situation critical and is reissuing an urgent call for blood and platelet donors. Make an appointment to give blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

A Valentine Party will be held at the Glen Elder Community Center, Senior Center, at 5:30pm on Friday Feb 16th. Menu is meat loaf and baked potato. Please bring a side dish or a chocolate dessert to share. A King and Queen will be chosen at this Valentine party and bingo will be played following the meal.

The Lenten Breakfast Series sponsored by the Smith County Ministerial Association will be held at the Srader Center, 119 West Court St in Smith Center, KS, on Thursday mornings Feb 15, 22, and March 1, 8, 15, 22 from 7am-7:45am.

Men and boys, women and girls of all ages, you're invited to the 2018 Men and Boys Raly hosted by the Meloit United Methodist Church, Monday March 5th! Les Norman, former baseball player, syndicated sports radio host and author, will share his journey at this limited seating event. Deadline for dinner and event combination ticket Feb 19th. Highlights of the January star party at Cloud County Community College will include several stars and constellations. The star party, on Saturday Feb 17th will be at the Earl Bane Observatory on the Concordia campus, and is scheduled from 6:30-8:30pm. Cloud County Community College's Upsilon Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa will have a baked potato bar on Saturday Feb 17th during the men's and women's homecoming basketball games against Barton County Community College. The event will be from 5-9pm in room 302 above Arley Bryant Gymnasium. The baked potato bar will include various toppings, a drink and dessert for $7. A Courtland Aglow Lighthouse meeting is going on Saturday Feb 17th at 10am at the Living Waters Family Church, 303 Centennial in Courtland, KS. Guest speaker is Deborah Turner.

Enjoy breakfast at the VFW Post 6242 Home, 102 E South St in Beloit, on Sunday Feb18th serving 8am-1pm. Menu includes belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits & gravy, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. Donations go toward Post projects.
