Eligible blood donors of all types are encouraged to give blood through the American Red Cross this spring to help ensure a sufficient supply for hospital patients. There are blood donation opportunities going on:

The staff of the KIDS FIRST Program will be conducting a free screening for children birth to 5 years of age living in Jewell, Mitchell, Lincoln counties and parts of Osborne county that are in the Waconda School District. The screening will be at the Beloit Special Education Coop, 1714 N Hersey, on Friday morning May 5th. Parents having any questions concerning their child ages birth through 5 may call the Beloit Special Education Cooperative toll free number at 1-785-738-5275 ext. 1 before noon on Friday April 28th to make an appointment for your child. Approximately 30 minutes will be required to complete the screening.

 

The Cloud County Community College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, along with the NCK Community Band, will present a spring concert, "Movies, Musicals, and Memes, on Thursday, April 27th. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7pm in the Cook Theatre on the Concordia campus.

Relay for Life volunteers are carhopping for hope at the Sonic in Beloit Friday April 28th from 7am to 6pm where all cash tips will benefit Relay for Life. So stop by to eat or enjoy a special treat and donate to Relay for Life on Friday April 28th. If you would like to volunteer to work a two-hour shift contact Beth Holling at 785-545-5477. Join Relay for Life (RFL) in celebrating another year with a Movie Event to launch the Relay for Life season. RFL invites all to attend the special showing of 50/50 at Solomon Valley Cinema in Beloit on Saturday April 29th at 2pm. Cancer survivors and one caretaker can attend the movie for free; please wear your purple shirt. Individuals who have joined or formed a Team for RFL can attend for free. Community members are encouraged to join in on the fun by purchasing a $5 ticket at the door.

Relay for Life hosts a Glow-In-The-Dark Golf Tournament Saturday, May 6th at 3pm. Entry fee of $200 includes: supper, 1 free drink, mulligans, glow-in-the-dark supplies, 4 luminaries per team, and hole-in-one prize entry for your entire team. Teams must have one lady per team for the 4-person scramble. Glow packages to decorate your cart will be available to purchase day of event.
