Guy Hammon, Age 87

Guy Hammon of Jewell, KS went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2015 on his 87th birthday. He was born in Lynch, NE May 2, 1928 to Charles Ansom Hammon and Edna (Grenelle) Hammon. He had five sisters and two brothers. He married Barbara (Smith) Hammon on February 3, 1947 and together they had three sons - Guy James JR, Randy Paul, and Kevin Scott. He is preceded in death by his sons, sister Joy, brothers Colin and Russell, and his parents.
Guy was a welder and worked in shipyards in Portland, OR during WWII, then at Cushman Scooter in Lincoln, NE. During this time he played guitar and bass fiddle in bands throughout NE, Beaumont, TX, and Phoenix, AZ. In 1965 he left Cushmans to become a manager for Swicegood Music in Beaumont before retiring in 1992. He was liked by everyone who met him and was well loved by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 68 years, Barbara; his sisters, Janet Henson and Helen Baughn both of Anacortes, WA, Phyllis Smart of Fountain Head, AZ, and Dorothy Holman of Overland Park, KS; his 6 grandchildren, Chandler, Christopher, Jeremiah JR, Drew, Emily, Taryn, Ella, Norah and Piper.
Visitation will take place Friday, May 29, 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Kleppinger Funeral Home, 409 Broadway, Jewell, KS 66949, which is handling the arrangements. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 am at Riverside Cemetery in Crete, NE.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of their choice to aid in the fight of Huntington's Chorea disease.
