Kaylene Sothers Clark, 56, of Courtland, KS passed away at her home peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. She was born to Ralph "Ole" and Beverly (Russell) Sothers on October 9, 1959 in Concordia, Kansas.

She attended Courtland High School where her love for track began, making it to numerous state track meets, winning gold medals during both her junior and senior years. She graduated from Courtland High School in 1977 and went on to run track for two years at Cloud County Community College, graduating in 1979. Kaylene then furthered her education at Kansas State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (P.E.) in 1982.

Her most recent joy was the addition of her two granddaughters, Kennedy and Jaxi, in 2014. Kaylene was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more grandchildren in the upcoming months.

She began teaching and resumed coaching in 1990 at Courtland Elementary/Junior High and continued until 2013. Over the years she taught Life Skills and P.E. in addition to coaching volleyball, basketball, and track where she was known to inspire anyone that crossed her path. Her influence and love of working with youth continued through other activities including Pep Club Sponsor, Cheerleading Sponsor, Wednesday School at Church, just to name a few.

Kaylene's life was enriched by being involved in Clark Farms' livestock and farming operations. Some of her favorite things were taking lunches to the field and helping out in the farrowing house with the baby piglets. She also really enjoyed caring for her dogs and puppies. She contributed to continuing her father's legacy at C&W Farm Supply in Courtland by working as bookkeeper and part owner alongside her brother, mother, and son.
