James Smith, Age 99

James "Harland" Smith, age 99, longtime Concordia resident entered into rest on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia. He was born on August 1, 1916 in Guntersville, Alabama to James P. and Lela H. (Harland) Smith.

He married Ruby "Lorene" Spray on September 5, 1939. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2014.

Harland was the Administrator of Sunset Nursing Home for several years.

Survivors include his 2 Daughters, Barbara Knapp (Dennis), Concordia; Pat Banks (Jim), Campbellsville, KY.; a son, Jim Smith (Pat), Shawnee Mission, KS.; grandsons, Chuck and Curtis Knapp, Jason Smith, Jordan and Jeff Banks; granddaughters, Shanna Smith, Erin Landwehr; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Don Smith, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Kansas with Dennis Knapp presiding.

Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Kansas.

Memorial Contributions may be given to First Baptist Church in Oxford, Kansas c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
