The Mitchell County Commissioners conducted their regular weekly meeting Monday morning June 27. All Commissioners were present as was the County Clerk.

The Commissioners approved two cereal malt beverage licenses for Lakeside LLC. One was for “on premises” consumption and the other was for “carry out only.”

The Commissioners reminded everyone that they would not meet on July 4th but instead will meet on July 5th.

Rick Horn, Emergency Management director was present to open bids for a new pickup for his use as the EMS Director. Four bids and been received. After discussing the merits of each bid, the Commissioners voted to accept the bid from Beloit Motor Company for a 2016 GMC Sierra Crew Cab for $28,965.”

Larry Emerson gave the Commissioners his proposed budget for 2017. He said they are through making asphalt at the sand pit. They have moved their operations to the mixing strip. He said as usual, all the traffic and equipment of the road during harvest can create bottlenecks.

The Commissioners adjourned into an executive session with Mark Noah, Jim Johnson, Emerson, and three representatives from Dunstan Trucking for the purpose of discussing trade secrets of a business. One 30 minute sessions was extended to an additional 15 minutes. No action was taken.

The last guests were representatives from the North Central Kansas CASA to present their budget request for 2017. In the current year the Commissioners have contributed $12,000. CASA is asking for the same amount for 2017.
