Libby Hallack, Age 88

Libby Ann Hallack, the daughter of William Popelka and Christie (Bartak) Popelka, was born November 17, 1927 at Chelsea, Iowa and passed away on August 24, 2016 at the Belleville Health Care Center at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 7 days.

Libby grew up in the Republic County, KS area, graduating from Belleville High School. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, training to become a teacher. On May 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Curtis Hallack and to this union was born: Ronald, Margaret, Donna and Marsha. Libby taught school at the District 21 School and worked at J. C. Penney's for several years. She sewed and did seamstress work for the public for 38 years. Libby was a member of the St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the Church and was also known for making kolanches. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Curtis, daughter Margaret Horne, and brothers, Henry and Stanley Popelka.

Libby is survived by one son Ronald "Ron" Hallack of Warsaw, MO, Donna Goodwin of Tonganoxie, KS, and Marsha O'Leary of Topeka, KS; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Mary Reed of Belleville, KS and one brother, Eddie Popelka of Cuba, KS; other relatives, and friends.

Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Belleville, KS with Fr. David Metz, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Katherine's Cemetery, rural Belleville, KS. A Vigil/Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM until 9 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.

Memorials are suggested to St. Edwards Catholic Church or the St. Katherine's Cemetery Fund.
